I was responsible for the “doodle” on eBay’s homepage. Originally it was purely a site decoration, something whimsical that connected with the brand’s personality, often seasonal. It was so prominent that it pushed the logo to the right. Over time site redesigns minimized the doodle’s footprint, and eventually, it became just another traffic driver for the marketing team.
